The Influencer Model provides the behavioral change structure needed to move ClockSkill from an instructional idea into daily practice by helping teachers identify desired results, act on vital behaviors, draw on six sources of influence, and sustain accountability through collaborative reflection (Grenny, Maxfield, & Shimberg, 2013).
This Influencer Strategy supports the implementation of my innovation plan, the ClockSkill / Clock Skew Learner Framework. The purpose of ClockSkill is to help teachers move from isolated method use toward didactically synchronized learning routes that connect purpose, learner readiness, methodology, didactic support, tools, evidence, reflection, and transfer.
Pedagnosis is the broader educational architecture; ClockSkill is the didactic capacity and implementation framework within it; Clock Skew is the indicator of misalignment between demand and preparation.
This document follows the assignment first and adds the ClockSkill extension only after the required sections. Part A provides the desired results, measures, vital behaviors, and organizational influencers. Part B provides the Six Sources of Influence Matrix in the required table format. Section C is a constructive critical extension that preserves the epistemological integrity of the ClockSkill innovation plan.
Because human learning is multidimensional, this assignment necessarily presents a two-dimensional planning decomposition of a more complex didactic architecture. The purpose of this decomposition is not to reduce ClockSkill, but to make the implementation legible, assessable, and actionable for an ePortfolio audience. The real synthesis occurs during implementation, where purpose, learner readiness, methodology, didactic support, evidence, reflection, and transfer are synchronized in practice.
Sections A and B therefore function as the required structural cut of the project.

This Influencer Strategy supports the implementation of my innovation plan, the ClockSkill / Clock Skew Learner Framework. The purpose of ClockSkill is to help teachers move from isolated method use toward didactically synchronized learning routes that connect purpose, learner readiness, methodology, didactic support, tools, evidence, reflection, and transfer.
The structure of this assignment follows the Influencer Model, which asks leaders to identify desired results, vital behaviors, organizational influencers, and the personal, social, and structural sources that shape behavior change (Grenny, Patterson, et al., 2013; Grenny, Maxfield, & Shimberg, 2013). The How to 10X Your Influence report is especially relevant because it explains that persistent problems are often rooted in human behavior rather than knowledge alone and that quick fixes fail when leaders treat complex behavior problems as if they had a single cause (Grenny, Maxfield, & Shimberg, 2013, pp. 2–4).
This matters for ClockSkill because didactic synchronization cannot be installed through one template, one motivational speech, one software tool, or one professional-development session. It requires meaning, skill-building, social modeling, coaching, structural tools, visible evidence, and sustained practice. The strategy is written for campus leaders, instructional coaches, teachers, technology support staff, students, families, and future stakeholders who will participate in the implementation of the ClockSkill innovation plan.
The desired result is to help teachers begin using ClockSkill as a didactic synchronization framework in their planning, instruction, evidence collection, and reflection practices. By the end of the first 12-week implementation cycle, participating teachers will be able to design and use didactically synchronized learning routes that connect instructional purpose, learner readiness, methodology, didactic support, tool selection, evidence of learning, reflection, and transfer.
The deeper goal is not simply for teachers to complete another planning template. The deeper goal is for teachers to develop a professional habit of didactic reasoning. Instead of beginning with 'What activity should I assign?' or 'What tool should I use?' teachers will begin asking what the learner is being asked to do, what the learner has not yet been prepared to do, what support is missing, what evidence will show growth, and how the learner will understand the process. This approach is consistent with human-centered design because it examines whether a system made action visible, understandable, and possible before blaming the user (Norman, 2013).
This result matters because schools may adopt methods, platforms, portfolios, assessment routines, and AI tools without fully building the didactic conditions required for meaningful independent performance. Learners may be asked to create before receiving models, reflect before developing reflective language, build portfolios before understanding evidence, use AI before understanding authorship, or demonstrate voice before receiving structure and safety. This is not a criticism of individual teachers; it is a systemic instructional risk. Research on scaffolding, formative assessment, and feedback indicates that independent proficiency should be supported through modeling, contingent support, criteria, feedback, revision, and gradual transfer of responsibility before it is fairly assessed (Black & Wiliam, 1998; Hattie & Timperley, 2007; Sadler, 1989; van de Pol et al., 2015; Wood et al., 1976).
Educational systems may sometimes require learners to demonstrate independent proficiency before the necessary didactic conditions for that proficiency have been sufficiently developed. This should not be read as an accusation against individual teachers. Rather, it identifies a systemic instructional risk: learners may be assessed as if they are ready for independent performance while the route toward that performance has not yet been fully scaffolded.
Research on scaffolding, formative assessment, and feedback supports this concern. Scaffolding theory shows that learners can complete more complex tasks with appropriate support than they can complete independently (Wood et al., 1976). Classroom scaffolding research emphasizes the importance of contingent, adaptive support in relation to student achievement and task effort (van de Pol et al., 2015). Formative assessment research shows that students need clear criteria, feedback, and opportunities to close the gap between current performance and desired performance (Sadler, 1989; Black & Wiliam, 1998). Feedback research also cautions that feedback can have positive or negative effects depending on whether it gives learners usable information about where they are going, how they are going, and what they need to do next (Hattie & Timperley, 2007).
For ClockSkill, proficiency should not be treated as a ticket given at the end of performance. Proficiency should be understood as the result of a didactic route: modeling, guided practice, scaffolding, feedback, reflection, revision, and gradual transfer of responsibility.
The following table presents the measurement plan for the ClockSkill implementation. Each outcome is operationally defined, paired with a measurable target, linked to an evidence source, and grounded in a citation rationale.

The vital behaviors are repeated teacher actions that make didactic synchronization visible, teachable, and sustainable. The Influencer report argues that successful change begins by identifying high-leverage behaviors and then supporting those behaviors with multiple sources of influence (Grenny, Maxfield, & Shimberg, 2013, pp. 2–4, 11–12).
The Influencer report emphasizes the role of formal leaders and informal opinion leaders as social sources of motivation and ability. It states that leaders can extend influence by working through respected people who model, teach, coach, and support the desired behavior at critical moments (Grenny, Maxfield, & Shimberg, 2013, pp. 7–8).
The Six Sources of Influence Matrix is the required structure for Part B. The 10X report organizes influence around personal motivation, personal ability, social motivation, social ability, structural motivation, and structural ability (Grenny, Maxfield, & Shimberg, 2013, p. 4). It also provides a strategy matrix that asks whether people want to engage in the behavior, whether they have the knowledge and skill to do it, whether respected others encourage it, whether people receive help at critical moments, whether rewards reinforce it, and whether the environment enables it (Grenny, Maxfield, & Shimberg, 2013, p. 12).
ClockSkill uses the required structure, but interprets it through professional will, didactic skill-building, shared professional meaning, peer-supported practice, visible value, and environmental design for didactic action. This reframing does not reject the Influencer Model; it clarifies how the model functions inside my innovation plan.

The implementation of ClockSkill is organized into six sequential phases spanning twelve weeks. Each phase builds on the previous one, moving teachers from lexical clarity to sustained reflective practice.

This Influencer Strategy prepares the foundation for the next implementation step: Installing 4DX with My Organization. The Influencer Strategy identifies the desired results, vital behaviors, organizational influencers, and six sources of support. The 4DX plan will then provide the execution structure through the Wildly Important Goal, lead measures, scoreboard, and cadence of accountability (McChesney et al., 2012). In simple terms, the Influencer Strategy explains how professional will and behavior change will be supported; 4DX explains how the change will be executed consistently in the middle of the daily whirlwind; and ClockSkill provides the innovation being implemented.
Sections A and B directly address the required Influencer Strategy assignment. Section C is included as a ClockSkill critical extension to preserve epistemological integrity. It explains why the framework requires precise vocabulary before implementation. The goal is not to reject the Influencer Model, but to clarify how ClockSkill interprets influence as ethical condition design that provokes professional will, rather than as pressure, persuasion, or manipulation.
The required assignment uses the language of influence. ClockSkill accepts the structure of the Influencer Model, but adds a critical clarification: influence should not be understood as pressure or external control. Etymologically, influence is connected to the idea of something flowing into or acting indirectly upon a person or situation (Online Etymology Dictionary, n.d.-d). In this project, influence is reframed as ethical condition design: the creation of personal, social, and structural conditions through which professional will can emerge.
Motivation and will are not the same thing. Motivation can be temporary. It may come from excitement, urgency, praise, fear, reward, or pressure. Will is deeper because it involves intention, agency, choice, identity, and sustained action. This distinction matters because educational reforms often fail when they rely on motivation without route. Teachers may feel inspired and then return to the same constraints, unclear expectations, and fragmented tools. Without didactic support, motivation dissipates.
The 10X report supports this concern because it explicitly warns that too many leaders equate influence with motivation and overlook the fact that new behaviors may be intellectually, physically, and emotionally challenging (Grenny, Maxfield, & Shimberg, 2013, p. 6). ClockSkill therefore uses the Influencer structure but deepens it through will, route, evidence, and transfer.
Before presenting the grammar example, it is important to clarify why it belongs in this Influencer Strategy. The distinction between "concealed" and "implicit" is not merely a linguistic preference. It functions here as a mirror of a broader epistemological problem in education: the tendency to misname learning phenomena and then build instruction, assessment, and accountability around those inaccurate categories. When a structure is called "concealed," the language suggests that it is hidden, covered, or withheld. However, when a structure is "implicit," it is not necessarily hidden; it is embedded in syntax, context, function, or inference and must be didactically unfolded. This distinction matters because misnamed categories can produce misaligned instruction. Learners may then be assessed as if they failed to find something hidden, when the real issue is that the structure was implicit and had not yet been made visible through teaching.
For ClockSkill, this grammar example reflects a larger systemic pattern. The same problem appears when a tool is called a methodology, when methodology is confused with didactics, when motivation is confused with will, when AI output is mistaken for authorship, when voice is expected before language and safety are formed, or when final products are treated as sufficient evidence of learning. In each case, the problem begins with epistemological imprecision. The wrong word creates the wrong category; the wrong category creates the wrong instructional response; the wrong instructional response creates misleading evidence.
The passive voice provides another example of why grammatical categories must be taught as rhetorical choices rather than simplified rules of avoidance. Passive voice is often discouraged or oversimplified in style instruction, particularly when active voice would make writing clearer and more direct. However, academic writing research and writing guides show that passive voice remains rhetorically useful when the writer needs to foreground the action, process, receiver, result, or object of study rather than the actor (Banks, 2017; Li, 2022; Purdue Online Writing Lab [Purdue OWL], n.d.-a, n.d.-b). Therefore, the didactic issue is not whether passive voice is simply "right" or "wrong," but whether learners understand how voice changes focus, agency, process, reception, and meaning.
This grammar mirror demonstrates why ClockSkill begins with lexical and epistemological correction. The problem is not limited to grammar. It appears across leadership, technology, AI, assessment, COVA, and organizational change. When educational language is imprecise, practice becomes fragmented. ClockSkill therefore treats accurate naming as a didactic responsibility: before a learner can be assessed, the structure of the task, the language of the expectation, and the evidence of understanding must be made visible.
ClockSkill does not reject COVA. It strengthens COVA by asking how choice, ownership, voice, and authentic learning are formed before they are expected. Choice requires criteria and guided options. Ownership requires evidence, revision, and responsibility. Voice requires language, safety, audience, modeling, and authorship. Authentic learning requires purpose, context, decision-making, revision, and transfer. Without didactic preparation, COVA can be misapplied as false autonomy. With ClockSkill, COVA becomes teachable agency (Harapnuik et al., 2018; Harapnuik, n.d.).
ClockSkill does not ask teachers to add one more initiative to the educational whirlwind. It asks them to recover the didactic intelligence that makes every method, tool, platform, portfolio, AI output, assessment, and COVA practice humanly meaningful. The core shift is from influence as pressure to influence as ethical condition design; from motivation to will; from methodology to didactics; from tool use to purposeful mediation; from final product to process evidence; from voice as slogan to voice as formed capacity; from assessment as judgment to assessment as guided interpretation; and from innovation as adoption to innovation as human formation.
This EDLD 5304 Influencer Strategy represents the third stage in the development of my ClockSkill thinking. The first stage began in my earlier work with Dr. Oge, where I started identifying the urgency of didactic synchronization and the problem of learning demands that may exceed learner preparation. That work introduced the need to examine Clock Skew as a misalignment between instructional expectation and learner readiness. The second stage continued with Dr. Grogan, where the project expanded into creating significant learning environments and deeper connections among COVA, reflection, learner agency, and authentic evidence. This current stage with Dr. Padovan translates the same intellectual line into organizational change by identifying the results, vital behaviors, organizational influencers, and six sources of support needed to help teachers adopt didactic synchronization as a professional habit. Together, these three stages show that ClockSkill is not an isolated assignment; it is an evolving innovation plan that has moved from instructional urgency to significant learning design, to leadership-based implementation.
